Dear Honourables, I am not ignorant enough to be pride of myself but as far as I know my Iranian colleagues, not too many of them have such a wide interests and be so serious and thirsty to write some of the best philosophers of our age in search of more knowledge. Variety of titles and subjects of the books I bought in Paris is another proof on genuine of my intellectual interests: The exact problem lead to my suffering in Iran.
Here and at the end of this email I sincerely reiterate my request of help. I hope be accepted in your country as an independent immigrant or a workforce.I shall my best to be helpful to your country and pharmaceutical industries.
My last but not the least request is be informed of final decision of your country on my request. Unreasonable silence of others till now have ruined more than six years of my life but so slowly that no one would call it murder. My journey to Europe inevitably would come to its end by the first week of April or maybe few days sooner. I hope I would have been informed of the fate of my request till then. This email is the last of my Trilogy.
Sincezrely yours
B Mohamamdpour.

Dear Professor J Raz
Thank you much for your prompt reply. The most pleasurable experience of my life is reading from The Greats: their books or their letters. By letter, I am their guest and it is too great pleasure and a sign of their kindness and Greatness.
Unfortunately I am not a Modern but somehow and in many respects an Ancient one!
Secondly I prefer study long texts from books and carry them wherever I move. And thirdly, books are The Most Sacred Objects of my life and having them is my most pleasurable worldly experience!
For all these reasons I Love having, studying and even touching them. My personal collection has more than 3000 serious books none is readable when the reader is not ready for a serious and hard job of thinking and understanding. Mora than 200 of them are on English language and sixty of these 200 are monolingual English dictionaries!
Best regards
B Mohammadpour

Dear Professor Richard LAYARD
I am very pleased for finding this opportunity to write you. Your book on HAPPINESS is packed of fine and valuable points and discoveries on our situation in modern world and societies.
The role of economy has never been so absolute and inescapable during the history of us miserable social animals on the earth. This means without a reasonable knowledge and understanding of "economics", the Basis and Modern, our understanding of our life and time could not be faithful to reality.
I would be delighted if you kindly introduce me some textbooks which are most suitable for nonprofessional and some others on the spacial aspects of modern economy on our life, planet and future. And a good conceptual dictionary or one- or two-volume encyclopedia on economy which provide the most possible information for ease of reference and further understanding of the subject.
According to Stein Ringen in "What Democracy Is For?" Economy must be Democratized. Do you thing there is any way to it?
I wish you the best and hope you would like this small and absolutely Iranian gift that also has something from your country which has its unique background and influence on Iranian poem and painting (especially Miniature) and art in general.
Sincerely yours
B Mohammadpour

Dear M. Mohammadpour Thank you for your email. I believe that a good way to start exploring these issues is by reading about them in philosophical encyclopedias. They provide introductory surveys as well as recommendations for further reading. My favourite is the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, which is a free on-line work. You will find it at http://plato.stanford.edu/ Yours sincerely Joseph Raz ======================== Joseph Raz Columbia University http://josephnraz.googlepages.com/ ======================== ________________________________________ From: bagher mohammadpour [bmp1337@yahoo.com] Sent: 30 March 2010 13:28 To: jr159@columbia.edu; cabber@law.columbia.edu Subject: A request from an Iranian pharmacist in Paris Dear Professor J Raz I am delighted finding this golden opportunity to write you. I am glad that you are interested in these issues, and that you intend to spend years studying them. The question is where to begin. I would recommend starting with the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy. It is a free on line resource written by experts: http://plato.stanford.edu/
I do not necessarily agree with everything they have there on rights. But it will be both an introduction, and provide you with ideas on how to carry on - what other works to read.
